What does our tree service cover?
Anything from one palm to a yard full of storm damage. Tree work is the biggest part of what Roeling Green Lawns does across Volusia, Lake and Seminole counties, and you can call us for:
- Tree removal, with a crane when the job calls for one
- Tree and palm trimming
- Stump grinding
- Hazardous trees, emergencies and storm damage
Bobcats, a bucket truck and a track lift cover most jobs. On any tree that's staying, our climbers go up spikeless. And if a tree is too big or too boxed in for all of that, we rent a crane and take it out in six or seven picks. We can usually be at your place within 24 to 48 hours to look at it. Crane days take longer. There aren't many cranes around, so that part of the schedule can run up to two weeks depending on the time of year.

When is it time to remove a tree?
When it's dead, when it's leaning toward something you care about, or when it has gone hollow. None of those fix themselves. Waiting usually means a harder job later, because dead wood gets brittle and a crew can't trust it the way it trusts a live limb.
Call us before the tree decides for you. We'll look at it, tell you whether it needs to come down, and give you a price. Some jobs are all about rigging, like our pine removal over a Deltona home, and some need a crane, which can add up to two weeks of waiting. Once the wood is on the ground, we recycle as much as we can through firewood and chips for local fruit growers. Then we rake up and go. We also offer 24 hour emergency tree service for fallen and hazardous trees. It's a free visit. If it's on a house, tell us that first.

How often should trees and palms be trimmed?
Most palms need a trim about once a year, or twice if they hang over parking or a walkway. Oaks can go longer, so we look at what's hanging over your roof, your driveway and the wires, and we cut what needs it.
How the work gets done matters as much as how often. We use the bucket truck or go up spikeless, because climbing spikes can bring disease into a live oak, and they only come out when a tree is being removed. On palms, the dead fronds and seed stalks come off and the green crown stays. We don't top trees. You won't get a hurricane cut from us, either. Big job or small, you get the same crew. One Orange City property had about 15 palms and five or six live oaks, and our single palm trim in New Smyrna Beach was one tree in a front yard.

When does a lawn need new sod?
When the grass is dead at the runners, or when the weeds have taken over. Brown blades alone don't prove much, because St. Augustine can green back up with water. So we pull a runner and look at it. Firm and green means wait and water. Dry and brittle means that lawn is finished.
A new lawn starts with the dirt. We strip the old turf, fix the grade and lay the sod the morning it's delivered. We set the heads to the finished grade before the sod goes down, because a head buried under new turf won't throw water where the new lawn needs it. Bahia suits open, sunny yards where you want low upkeep. St. Augustine gives you the thick carpet look as long as there's irrigation behind it, and CitraBlue holds up better than Floratam in partial shade. We'll point you to the grass your yard can keep alive.

What can a landscape design include?
Anything from one bed to a whole yard, including fruit your family can pick and eat. We choose plants that will survive your sun, your shade and any salt in the air. Then we set them out in their pots, so you can see the layout before anyone digs a hole.
The plan can take in trees, palms, mulch, pavers and sod. Planting trees is work Jeremy would gladly do more of, and the crew that draws up your yard is the same crew that goes out and plants it. Bare dirt is fine. We'll build from the ground up. If your beds are tired or overgrown, we'll clear them out first, keep what's worth keeping and work around it. You'll know what each piece will cost before we start, so you can do it all at once or in stages. Tell us your budget and we'll start from there.

What else can one crew take care of?
Most of what's left on the property. Sprinklers are where Jeremy started in 1996, so finding lost valves and replacing pumps and timers is everyday work for us. Tracking down a lost valve takes a locator and some patience, and getting to a broken line through oak roots can mean a Sawzall down in the hole. We also clean up overgrown yards, including foreclosed houses, and haul everything away ourselves. You can also call us for:
- Irrigation installation and repair
- Mulch and lawn maintenance
- Paver installation
- Land clearing and Bobcat services
Plenty of cleanups turn into bigger projects, and that's fine with us. Mow it down first, then decide what the budget allows. We'll haul it all either way. We keep up a bank property too, so regular commercial grounds work is part of our week. Want one crew for the trees, the sprinklers and the beds? Call us and tell us what's on your list.
